 Dr. Sher Singh Bhakar
Ph.D, M.B.A., MCS, AMIETE Director
Dr. Sher Singh Bhakar joined PIMG as Director on 3r" November, 2003. Before joining the Institute he was associated with Prestige Institute of Management and Research, Indore, where he worked at various positions such as Lecturer, Reader and Professor. He was the coordinator of Production Management and Quantitative Techniques group at Prestige Institute of Management and Research, Indore for the entire tenure of nine years; and was continuously engaged in teaching Production and Operations Management, Purchasing and Materials
Management, Operations Research, Quantitative Techniques, Research Methodology and
Statistical Methods, Transportation and Materials Handling, Stores and Inventory Management, Cost Analysis and Control and
Project Managementto Post Graduate (MBA-FT&PT) and Undergraduate (BBA) Students.
Dr. Bhakar has also worked as head electronics and electrical departments in various ships and establishments for fifteen years of service in Indian Navy, looking after all facets of Human Resource Management like identifying training needs, organizing in house training, aligning training needs to career progression and looking after day to day administrative affairs of engineers and technicians.
Dr. Bhakar obtained Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the Institute of Electrical Engineering, Indian Naval ship, Valsura, Jam Nagar, B.E. in Electronics & Telecommunications (AMIETE), M.B.A. (Operations Management) from IGNOU, New Delhi, Masters in Computer Science from Indo-German Cultural society, Bombay and Ph.D. in Management on A Comparative Study of Material Handling Systems in Automobile Industry from Devi Ahilya University, Indore. He has also undergone a number of short courses and training programs in the area of engineering and management of duration up to six months including a six months course on missile technology from British Aerospace, U.K.
Dr. Bhakar has been extensively involved in various research activities including supervising summer projects and postgraduate dissertations of MBA final semester students (have guided 100 post graduate dissertations till date). He is presently working on research papers in the area of Supply Chain Management, Forecasting, Quality Control, MRP Productivity and Value addition in Retailing. He has published 65 research papers, book reviews and case studies in refereed journals and books and as a member of editorial team published a book titled Organizational Challenges: Insights and solutions published by Excel Books, New Delhi. Under his guidance 2 scholars have already submitted final Ph.D. thesis & 6 are under process of submission of their Ph.D. Thesis.
Dr. Bhakar has attended and presented papers in about fifty conferences and seminars across the country. He has conducted inhouse training programs for some of the most reputed organizations in the country such as Essar Steel, Eicher Motors, Syncom formulations etc. and has organized and conducted Executive Development Programs on ISTD platform. He has conducted sessions in the area of Supply Chain Management in Faculty Development Programs organized by DAW and Vikram University, Ujjain. He is visiting faculty to ITM Nagpur and IITTM Gwalior.
Dr. Bhakar is a life member of Indian Society for Training and Development (ISTD) New Delhi, associate member of Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, New Delhi, member of Indore Management Association and member & currently executive President of Gwalior Management Association. He has held senior positions of various bodies such as Chairman, Indian Society for Training and Development (ISTD) Indore chapter (2003-2004), Secretary ISTD, Indore chapter (2000-2001), Co-ordinator University Examinations (2002-04), member proctorial board DAW, Indore, Member Group Discussion and Interview panel of All India Management Association, New Delhi for MBA admissions in Management Institutions of Madhya Pradesh (1996-1998) etc.
